Books I Didn't Finish in 2020

Below will be any books I started and didn't finish and the reason why.

  1. The Killer Collective by Barry Eisler
    • This was on a list of the top 5 audiobooks of 2019 so I picked it up but I didn't realize it was actually a cross of 3 different series books, none of which I have read. Once I realized that I was still willing to give it a try but I just couldn't wrap my head around the characters so I was mostly tuning the audiobook out.  I've read and loved other Eisler books so I may just circle back to this one if I ever read any of these series books.
  2. An Ace and A Pair by Blake Banner
    • I couldn't get into the story. It seems like a great premise but I wasn't pulled into the story at all. I read about 10% of the book on my Kindle and just gave up when it was clear I had no interest in getting to the end.
  3. Qualityland by Marc-Uwe Kling
    • I listened to 20% of the audiobook and just didn't like it at all. Nothing about the story engaged me and I didn't want to waste anymore time hoping the story lived up to all the hype I've heard about it.
  4. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
    • I just couldn't engage with the book. I bailed pretty quickly but don't think I'll revisit it at any time.
  5. All Systems Red by Martha Wella
    • I actually got a fourth of the way into this one but didn't care to make it to the end. It just didn't hold my attention enough.

Books I Didn't Finish in 2019

Below will be any books I started and didn't finish and the reason why.

    1. Vicious by V.E. Schwab
      • I only got a few chapters in but I couldn't concentrate long enough to care about any of the characters so I bailed pretty quickly on this one.

Books I Didn't Finish in 2018

Below will be any books I started and didn't finish and the reason why.

  1. I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson
    • The story started off interesting enough but jumped ahead too quickly and I lost interest really fast. I stopped about 1/4th into the book.
  2. Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
    • There were just too many things going on at once and I felt that Hawkins was trying too hard at building the suspense.
  3. Devil Said Bang by Richard Kadrey
    • I think it's time to throw in the towel on this series. I kept going on the last couple but just keep loosing interest with each one. Sorry, Sandman Slim.
  4. Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
    • I liked the premise but I was just to distracted and there was a lot going on. Maybe I'll revisit this one sometime.
  5. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
    • I really love Neil Gaiman but he's had misses for me before. I just couldn't get into this one and I feel bad because I thought with the addition of Terry Pratchett I would love it.
  6. Private London by James Patterson
    • I felt no empathy for any of the characters. I think Patterson is just cranking out too many books and not developing any good suspense anymore. I'm throwing in the towel on this entire series now.

Books I Didn't Finish in 2016

Updated September 17, 2016

Below will be any books I started and didn't finish and the reason why.

August 2016,   Playing with Fire by Derek Landy. I absolutely loved the first book in this series but I guess I waited too long in between the two. This one just didn't hold my interest and I quickly decided to pass on it.

September 2016, Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. I just couldn't get into the book flipping back and forth between the different lives of  Ursula. Put it down less than a third of the way in which disappointed me because I heard this was a great book.

Books I didn't finish in 2015

Updated: January 1, 2015

Below will be any books I started and didn't finish and the reason why.

  1. The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins
    • There were too many different characters in the beginning doing weird things. I found it a bit hard to follow.
  2. Parts & Wreck by Mark Henry
    • I was listening to this on audio and it just wasn't catching my attention. Next thing you know I was an hour in and only had a vague idea of what was going on. Maybe I'll try it again sometime soon as it did seem like fun.
