On his way to a routine suspect interview homicide detective Ray Quinn took two bullets that ended his career and watched as the woman he loved, his partner Trisha, took one bullet that ended her life. Now eleven months later Ray is a night watchman at an Orlando condo and Jim Beam is his best friend.
One night while working on his sudoku puzzle a woman comes in begging him to check on her brother who hasn’t answered her calls since the day before. Upon entering the condo the woman’s pastor brother is found dead along with a stripper in an apparent murder-suicide.
Convinced her brother is innocent Pam begs Ray to investigate the case when no one else will listen to her claims. After initially turning her down Ray decides to help. Soon the investigation leads Ray to believe that one of his former police officers has something to hide and will stop at nothing to ensure his secret will never be revealed.
Ray quickly became an endearing character with warts and all. He’s tough and bitter but at the end opens his heart to the ones he pushed away. His sidekick through the book is his condo co-worker Crevis Creighton, a young cop wannabe who comes from an abusive home. Initially he seems to have a screw or two loose but when push comes to shove Crevis proves there really is a hero lurking inside.
The Night Watchman is an excellent Christian suspense story and the first in the new Ray Quinn series. I look forward to the next installment and recommend this one to all suspense lovers.

I think my favorite serious hero and sidekick were from a long tme ago from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - Robert Vaughn and David McCullum were the actors. A comical part of crime fighters that I loved was from the Andy Griffin Show - Sheriff Andy and his sidekick, Barney.
Please enter me in the giveaway. I would love to win a copy of this book!

Favorite hero and sidekick pair? Toughie....for mystery and comic genres it's a toss up between Batman and Robin and Holmes and Watson. Irregardless of genres, then it would have to be St. Germain and Rogier from Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's books....
