This is my very first meme ever so I hope I'm doing this right!!

This week's question

Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

A: Classics! I read to be entertained and I've found that the classics are just too stuffy and hard to get through. I like my books to take me away to another world not to make me concentrate on understanding what the heck they are saying!

So do you read modern day classics or is it the historical aspect that you don't like?

Hopping through. New follower! I don't read many classics either. I wish I did because I'd feel more cultured.

I agree, some classics can be really tedious to read. But others are very very entertaining :)

Hahaha classics can be really hard to understand sometimes. I remember in high school having to decipher each page because everything sounded like jibberish to me. Now though, I enjoy them. Especially Pride and Prejudice.

I always feel terrible when I DON'T enjoy a classic - I feel like I should! For me, they are pretty hard to get through, too, and there are so many other genres I prefer to read more. :)

I LOVE classics! But I can understand why a lot of people don't like them. Since I was forced to read so many in school, I learned to love them! New follower! Check out my FF:

There are a few classics that I managed to read and love, but for the most part I agree with you. A read for entertainment and that means the book can't take me six months to finish! New follower.

Thanks for following me, I'm following you back! I agree with classics. The words are so big and the language is really sophisticated. It's just too much for me every time!

I have to agree that most classics (the older ones prior to the 1900s) are hard to get through, but I have found a few that were definitely worth the effort. The challenge is finding those few that are great (because each person's reaction to stories is so individual). So while I'm not a huge fan of stodgy old classics, I wouldn't have thought of them first for this answer. For me it's paranormal lit. I just can't get into it.

New follower. I agree, the classics don't entertain me as much as current fiction.

Welcome to the blog hop! I will be sure to follow you! Only in the blog world can you say you are going to follow someone and it doesn't sound creepy! :->

I don't like classics very much either, if they are more modern classics then it is different. It is really the wording for me. Plus, I like you read for pleasure and I want it to be fun.

Have a great weekend!

I admit that I really struggle to read some classics - although some I've read and really enjoyed! So it's like touch and go for me LOL I generally avoid them though because I don't like to be wondering if I'm going to like the book from the outset - I want to go in thinking I'm going to LOVE the book lol

Great answer!

Thanks for dropping by my blog , I'm following you in my reader now :)
